Builder appeals for information after van with £3,000-worth of tools stolen almost under his nose He got on site at 8.40am today and his van – one of two company vans there - was taken at around 9am.
"We were in the back garden," said Mr Collier, who has been in the Collier Building family business for 46 years. "I could see the back door of the van. I said to one of the boys to take some tools to the van and he came back and said 'where did you park it?'. It had gone. It was only a couple of minutes.
"All my tools have gone, about £3,000-worth, and some clothing. Some of my tools I have had all my life. I do everything, so I have got carpentry, brick-laying, plastering tools and others. I have lost my independence with the van going."
