A gardener has appealed for the return of her van and tools which were stolen from Richmond at the weekend.

Not only has Kate Schindler lost her works van, but she has also lost the tools that were in it.

The vehicle was stolen from the Holly Hill area of Richmond on Sunday night.

She said: “It was completely full of tools and personal things.

“I’m more concerned about my tools and my partner’s violins than I am about the van. The van can be replaced but everything else is my livelihood.”

The incident is the latest in a spate of vehicle crimes in Richmondshire in the last few days.

On Thursday night thieves broke into the compound of Hudspeth Carpets in Brompton-on-Swale.

As well as damaging several vans, they stole a trailer and tools.

North Yorkshire Police are also appealing for witnesses and information after fuel was siphoned from six wagons parked at Gallowfields Industrial Estate in Richmond.

The incidents happened on two occasions between Thursday last week and Monday.

On each occasion, damage was caused to the fuel tanks and a large quantity of fuel was siphoned from the vehicles.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious vehicles, people or activity in the area over the weekend or has any other information that could assist the investigation to contact them.

Anyone with information on these incidents should call North Yorkshire Police on 101.

If you wish to remain anonymous, you can pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
