A ‘STRUGGLING’ man who lost his wife to cancer recently was dealt another blow after ‘clever’ thieves broke into his work van and stole tools worth around £3,000.

Popular Milton builder Patrick Erridge, 50, was left horrified after finding out his LDV Maxus had been breached in Locksway Road on Sunday night April 12 despite having deadlocks attached.

It meant essential long-standing tools used for his work over many years were lost

Among the items stolen by devious thieves were disc cutters, laser cutters, drills and lasers. Patrick said: ‘They were tools I’ve used for years and need for my work. They will cost a lot to replace. The disc cutters and petrol cutters cost £1,700 alone.

‘I’ve got deadlocks on the van so it’s beyond me how they managed to get in. They must be very clever. At first I thought they must have come in the house to get my keys before getting in the van.’
